Maurice Lindsay Yokley, 81, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024. He was born November 28, 1942, in Forsyth County, NC, to the late Charlie and Virginia Weavil Yokley. Maurice retired from both R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and Cres Tobacco. Never one to shy away from work, throughout his life in his spare time, Maurice enjoyed farming tobacco, raising horses and hogs, running his portable sawmill and making hay.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Janice Taylor Yokley; a son, Christopher Yokley of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Mary Anne Yokley Gaster (Marshall) of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren: Catie and Jordan Yokley and Lindsay and Liam Gaster; two step-grandchildren: Trevor Haskins and Olivia Gaster; a sister, Debbie Cox of Fountain Inn, SC; two brothers: Michael Yokley (Robin) and Mahlon Yokley (Sharron), both of Winston-Salem; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and his amigo, Jose.
In addition to his parents, Maurice was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Yokley, formerly of Advance.
The family will receive friends 6 pm – 8 pm Thursday, April 18, 2024, at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home, 10301 N NC Hwy 109, Winston-Salem, NC.
Funeral services will be private.
