Roy Martin Obituary

What an awesome and long awaited reunion took place this past Saturday morning as Roy Martin peacefully passed from this life to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Just two weeks prior he told us of a supernatural experience where he had died and went to Heaven. He saw many of his family members that had gone on before. He described it as a place of unexplainable light and there was no pain there; only peace. He said to us that Our Lord told him that he would be back to get him soon. After that, he believed in a way like we had never saw before.

Of course, our hearts are breaking, but we are comforted in knowing that he is with our Heavenly Father and experiencing all the wonders of Heaven. We witnessed him in pain as long as we can remember and now he experiences no pain.

Roy Wayne Martin was born in Walker County, Alabama on May 13, 1944 to JD and Naomia Huffman Martin. At 13, his family moved to Lexington, North Carolina and shortly thereafter met the love of his life, Emma Sue Tadlock. They fell in love and married on February 1, 1964. Together they raised 2 daughters.

He is preceded in death by both his parents: JD Martin in 1969 and Naomia Huffman Martin in 2011. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother Troy in 1946 and Monte Martin in 2014. He also had a special nephew, Robin Martin, who preceded him in death in 1997.

Surviving are his precious wife, whom he loved and cared deeply for, Emma Sue Tadlock Martin, his oldest daughter Melissa Blackburn and her husband, Carroll and his youngest daughter Michelle Tysinger and her husband, Timothy. They were blessed with four beautiful grandchildren; Alesha Johnson (and fiancé Bob Schlesing), Matthew Perry (and wife Courtney), Heather Cooper (and fiancé David Hammond) and Trey Tysinger. They was also blessed further by four precious great-grandchildren, Londen Johnson, Braylen Matthews, Deklan Cooper and Matthew Perry. He was also expecting another great-grandchild this spring, Kiley Hammond.

He is also survived by two sisters whom he loved dearly, Dorothy Hayes and husband, Tommy and Lisa King and husband, Sam. He had many nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved and thought of highly.

We would like to especially thank Pruitt Hospice. They were such a blessing to our family. A very heartfelt thank you to Jeremy, Mary, Courtney, Sydney and Jason. God also sent ‘our special angel’, Katie from Pruitt Hospice. Our thanks to her cannot be put into words. She was such a blessing; going above and beyond the call of duty to take care of Roy. He was always happy to see her. Many blessing to her and all the Pruitt Hospice staff.

Ecclesiastes 3:1&2 states:  To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.

Roy’s time and purpose on this earth has been fulfilled. He will be greatly missed but will forever live in our hearts.
