Aaron Jones Obituary

Aaron Jones, 85, a life-long resident of Thomasville, passed away Monday evening, May 4, 2026 at Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation.


Known by his family and friends as “Coon”, Aaron was born March 31, 1941 to the late George R. Jones and Mary Darr Jones of Thomasville. Aaron began his education at Church Street School. He attended Emanuel Baptist Church and was an avid sports fan and the #1 Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. Aaron was gifted in mechanical and carpentry work. He also worked at Finch Fabrication and was a cook at Loflin’s in Thomasville. Some of his favorite hobbies were cross-word puzzles, playing bingo, and being in fashion shows. He enjoyed winning and had a ring on every finger to prove it! He has now won his final race and has entered eternal rest.


In addition to his parents, Aaron was preceded in death by; a son and daughter, Kathy Jones and James Kennedy; several siblings; George Jones (Zelma), Lamond Jones (Margaret), Willis Jones, Phillip Jones, Algeron Jones (Betty), Cecil Jones, Marion Spann Jones (Peggy), Charles Jones, Jimmy Jones, Mattie Lee Dallis (Leroy), Helen Bogan (Benny), Eva Jane Jones, Mamie Elizabeth Dimples Jones, Pegogene Jones; sister-in-law, Ruby Jean Jones.


Surviving are his brother, Herbert Jones, Sr. of Thomasville; a daughter, Mary “Pumkin” Kennedy of TX; grandchildren, Toni Agnew Rover of Wake Forest and Da’Marquise Kirkland of Thomasville; great-granddaughter, Briyah Rover of Wake Forest; a host of nieces and nephews.


A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Thomasville Pastor Rashad K. Fant officiating. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service hour. Burial will follow the funeral service at Guil-Rand Memorial Park in High Point. The repast will be at Emmanuel Baptist Church. The family appreciates all expressions of love and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the family.
