Aliyah Garris Obituary

Ms. Aliyah Jordan Garris, 18 a resident of Davidson County passed away on May 24, 2021. She was born in Guilford County on February 20, 2003 a daughter to Paul Brandon Garris and Valerie Eddinger Merrill. Aliyah was a graduate of South Davidson High School and a member of Pentecostal Church of Denton. She was radiant, intelligent, kind, funny and sassy just to name a few of her wonderful traits. Aliyah was an old soul and very passionate in her beliefs which made her so very unique and artistic. She had a love for eighties music and loved to read and learn new traits like sewing. Her preference for a graduation gift was actually a sewing machine as opposed to the normal gift of money. She also was unique in the way that she would plan a party given in her honor around the fact that her grandmother would fix spaghetti. This was always her favorite meal. Above all she loved her family and her beautiful cats, Latte and Sock. Aliyah was so beautiful and photogenic. There are so much more to be shared about her beautiful soul, but there just are not enough words to accurately describe this amazing young lady. Aliyah was preceded in death by her grandfather, Paul Garris.

Surviving is her mother, Valerie Merrill and husband Chris; father, Brandon Garris and wife Stephanie all of Thomasville; siblings, Cody, Logan, Alexis and Carson; maternal grandparents, Janet Kennedy and fiancé Robert and Bob Kennedy; paternal grandparents, Sharon and Harvey Claypool; uncles, James Swaney (Tiffany), Tony Merrill, Tim Garris (Ashley) and Dennis Russell (Carol); aunts, Sherry Garris and Bonnie Garris (Maher Mekhail); special grandmothers, Vicki Merrill, Deborah Humphrey and Teresa Owens. She also leaves behind special friend, Logan Soles and many beloved extended family and friends.
