Mrs. Annette “Ann” Huneycutt Whitley, 87, a resident of Thomasville, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025 at the Hospice Home at High Point. She was born on November 22, 1937 in Stanly County to her parents, the late Rosa Burris Huneycutt and Ellis Abraham Huneycutt. Annette was a member of Carolina Memorial Baptist Church for over 50 years. At Carolina Memorial she was a part of the church choir and enjoyed singing gospel music any opportunity she had. She was a long-time teacher’s aide at Fair Grove Elementary School and touched countless children’s lives in the Thomasville area. One of her favorite topics to speak about was being from the small community of Frog Pond in Stanly County. You could find her love for frogs throughout her home. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Whitley, and her two brothers, Kent Huneycutt and Ned Huneycutt.
Surviving is her three children, Mark Whitley (Renee) of Carolina Beach, NC, Tim Whitley (Donna) of Fairhope, AL, and Matthew Whitley (Melanie) of Thomasville; seven grandchildren, Jessica Whitley Coleman (John), Chris Whitley (Jessica), Stephaine Tapley (Mallory), Felicia Whitley, Emma Whitley, Hannah Whitley, and Bryant Whitley; and four great-grandchildren, Hunner, Landon, Luke, and Reed.
The family will greet friends on Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the JC Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. A graveside service will be held immediately following visitation at 12:00 noon at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville with Rev. Tim Landreth officiating.
