Mr. Archie Ronald Pilkenton, 73, of Chester Ridge Drive in High Point, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday morning, April 17, 2021.
Archie was born February 29, 1948 to Richard Pilkenton and Joyce Brown Pilkenton in Wilkes County. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp in Vietnam and was a decorated veteran receiving multiple awards including The Purple Heart and 4 bronze stars. He served as a policeman and fireman in the Thomasville area. Archie was a selfless, giving, humble man of faith who loved his family, friends, gardening, and cooking for others.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Pilkenton; a daughter, Sherrie Hines. Surviving are his loving wife, Maria McDonald Davis Pilkenton of the home; his mother, Joyce Pilkenton of Thomasville; a son, Andrew Davis of Hickory; three siblings, Kathy Barker of Lexington, Rita Honda (Brian) of Archdale, Jeff Pilkenton of Julian; sister-in-law, Mary Warren of Granite Falls; mother-in-law, Judi Tucker (Woodrow) of Granite Falls; father-in-law, Martin Lipe (Jackie) of Claremont; Uncle, Bill Young(Connie); a grandson, Christopher Hines; several nieces and nephews, Kim Vertefeuille (Brian), Scotty Dennis, Chris Louya (Natashya), Ryan Pilkenton (Amy), Blake Pilkenton (Franci), Ayslee Pilkenton; and special friends; honorary family member, Tokhanh Small, Carolyn Kearns, Gail Doby, and a host of loyal friends and fellow Corp.
The family will greet friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the J.C. Green and Sons funeral home in Thomasville. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the J.C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Andy Royals officiating. Interment will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday at White Oak Baptist Church, 115 Wyatt Road, Millers Creek, NC 28651. Memorials may be directed to the veteran’s organization of your choice.
