Avis Edward (Ed) Tobin, Jr. Obituary
Mr. Avis Edward (Ed) Tobin, Jr., 73, a resident of Thomasville, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021 at the Hospice Home at High Point. He was born on October 30, 1947 in Davidson County, NC to Avis Edward Tobin, Sr. and Kathryn Louise Parker Tobin. He graduated from East Davidson High School and Kendell School of Design in Grand Rapids, MI. He was a free-lance furniture designer owning and operating Ed Tobin Designs. He designed furniture for Thomasville Furniture Industries, Lexington Furniture, Lane Furniture and many more. He was a member of Rich Fork Baptist Church, where he was a former Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Trustee, and served on several different committees.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Mike Byers; and his sister-in-law, Janet Griffin.
On June 3, 1967, he married Judith (Judy) Cobb, who survives of the home; also surviving are his daughters, Kim Warrick and husband Ronnie, and Nicole Coker and husband Kenny, all of Thomasville; son, Chad Tobin and wife Shelley of Pleasant Garden; brothers, Marty Tobin and wife Debe of Pleasant Garden and Travis Tobin and wife Tammy of Garner; sister, Janice Byers of Thomasville; grandchildren, Kobie Warrick, Callie Warrick, Jacob Coker, Caleb Coker, Hannah Coker, Raegan Tobin, and Ava Tobin; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Rich Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Bowers, Rev. Marty Tobin, and Rev. Travis Tobin officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Mr. Tobin will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the visitation. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Rich Fork Baptist Church.
