Mrs. Barbara Jean Lewis Pegram, age 90, a resident of Thomasville, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026, at her residence. She was born June 12, 1935, in Greene County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Thomas Morris Lewis and Sarah Gladys Culver Lewis. Barbara was a homemaker and attended Hilliard Memorial Baptist Church in High Point, NC. She enjoyed reading and listening to her audio books after her sight deteriorated and enjoyed eating at T-Ville Diner and Sunrise Diner.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Albert Pegram, who passed on July 31, 2014; two sisters, Madalyn “Matt” Westmoreland, and Ailene “Neenie” White; and one daughter, Laura P. Fuller.
Barbara is survived by her son, Robert “Keith” Pegram and wife Betsy of High Point; her daughter, Susan P. Johnson and husband Dean of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Amber Grimmett and husband Phil of Trinity, Jason Pegram of Archdale, Amy Millen and husband Chris of Randleman; five great-grandchildren, Alvin, Allen, Tiffany, Brandon and Codey; and several great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville, with Rev. Tony Sluss officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Davidson County 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
