Betsy Ross Fowler Armfield, 93, a resident of Davidson County, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville. She was born in Guilford County, on January 16, 1930 to the late Frank Fowler and Edith Conrad Fowler. Betsy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Thomasville, where she took part in various activities. She worked for many years as a secretary at Baptist Children’s Home and she was a member of the Thomasville Women’s Club. Betsy enjoyed shopping, traveling, and going out to eat. She loved to read in her spare time and also loved to spend time with her grandkids.
In addition to her parents, Betsy is preceded in death by her husband, John William “Jack” Armfield, Jr., who passed away on December 10, 2003. The two were married on October 2, 1955 and enjoyed 48 years together as husband and wife.
Surviving are her two sons, John W. Armfield, III and wife Dale of Thomasville, David L. Armfield and wife Sandra of Lexington; a sister, Judy Fleming and husband Dickey of Thomasville; five grandchildren, John W. Armfield, IV and wife Courtney of Walnut Cove, Taylor Armfield Eurillo and husband Russell of Kernersville, Matthew Armfield and wife Ashley of Thomasville, Haley Armfield of Lexington, Jeremy McDaniel and fiancé Melissa of Asheboro; five great-grandchildren, Kara McDaniel of Trinity, Hudson Eurillo of Kernersville, Jack Armfield of Thomasville, Parker Eurillo of Kernersville, Noah Armfield of Thomasville. Betsy will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 115 Unity Street, Thomasville, with Rev. Linda Faltin officiating. Burial will follow the service at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service at the church, beginning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Betsy’s memory may be given to Grace Lutheran Church 115 Unity Street, Thomasville, NC. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com
