Betty Sue Hodges Stanley, 78, a resident of Thomasville, passed away on Friday evening, November 7, 2025 at her home. She was born on October 23, 1947, in Guilford County, to her parents, the late Raymond George Hodges, Sr. and Eva Mae Childress Hodges. Betty attended Woodlawn Baptist Church in High Point and was a dedicated RN at High Point and Thomasville Hospitals, Hospice of the Piedmont and several other locations in the area – her passion was nursing and it showed in the way she cared and wanted to help people. She enjoyed trips to Buggs Island with her family when the children were smaller and she spent summers relaxing at the beach. Betty was a crafter and made wreaths, crochet items and needlepoint items. Most of all she loved her family and adored her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ace Stanley, who passed away February 25, 2021. She also is preceded in death by five of her sisters, Peggy Suttles, Ruby Smith, Ruth Frady, Ronda Solomon, and Wanda Griffin.
Left to cherish Betty’s memory is her daughter, Angela Deaton (Charles) of Thomasville; two sons, Tony Stanley (Renee) of Linwood and Greg Stanley (Amanda) of Raleigh; two brothers, Bobby Hodges and George Hodges; three sisters, Brenda Snow, Debbie Peel and Martha Poole; five grandchildren, Samantha Smith and fiancé Dalton Vest, Mason Stanley, Andrew Stanley, Amanda Steed and Michael Steed; great-grandson, Michael Johnson; many extended family members. Betty will be dearly missed by her whole family.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville, with Rev. Keith Wall and George Hodges officiating. Burial will follow the service at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point. The family will greet friends beginning at 11:30 prior to the service at the funeral home.
