Betty Lou Turner Thomas, 80, a resident of Davidson County, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, at her home. She was born on November 27, 1942, in Guilford County to the late Harvey “Luke” Luther Turner and Beatrice Norman Turner. Betty was of the Baptist faith and she worked for many years as an LPN at numerous hospitals and nursing homes, caring for others. In later years, she worked as a teacher’s assistant at Fair Grove School. Betty loved to read, paint ceramics, cross stitch, crochet and really enjoyed Word Search puzzles. She loved Elvis and also going to the beach. Betty’s family was “everything” to her and she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband, Herbert “Ken” Thomas; a daughter, Pam Thomas Sink Myers; a brother, Bobby Turner; two sisters, Eileen Brooks and Sally Reece.
Left to cherish Betty’s memory are her daughter, Kenda Thomas Younts and husband Timothy of Lexington; two grandchildren, Brendon Sink and Shannon Sink; a great-grandson, Walker; extended family members and caretakers, who became like family. Betty’s family would like to express their gratitude to all of her caregivers over the past five years, especially those who were with her over the past month, which included, Judy, April, Sharon, Patricia and Karen. A special thank you to Judy who was her constant companion and caretaker for all five years.
A funeral service will be held Monday, November 13, 2023, at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville, at 11:00 AM, with Kenneth Norman officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday evening, November 12, 2023.
