Beverly Hayes Fisher, 72, of Thomasville, NC passed away on Tuesday, September 19th 2023, at her home. Beverly was born in Salem, NJ to the late Parker B. Hayes and Dorothea Snyder Hayes. She was the youngest of six children. Beverly graduated from Scranton High School. She attended Southeastern Bible College in Lakeland, FL and Wytheville Community College in Wytheville, VA. Beverly’s love for people was displayed in her occupations as Pastor’s wife, Head Start teacher, LPN, Retirement Home Manager, receptionist and residential child care worker at Baptist Children’s Homes of NC. Beverly retired from her position as customer service representative for American Express in 2005. Of all her roles, her favorite was as the caregiver to her husband of 47 years, Gary Lee Fisher, during his 12-year battle with ALS. Beverly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was affectionately known as “Mama” by many others as well. In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Gary, her loving stepmom, Lois Hayes, her sister Dorothea “Sue” Hayes and her brother David Hayes. She is survived by her daughters, Dawn Russell (Jame) of New London, Eve Pierce (Jeff) of Roanoke, VA, Sara Becker (Donald) of Thomasville, April Lackey (David) of Lake Toxaway, and Rhonda Sosa (Abel) of Thomasville. Her grandchildren are Joshua Steele (Kate), Jillian Clark (Joey), Seth Finch (Zoe), Leraine Pierce, Brandy Costin (Trinell), Toby Becker (DJ), Cameron Becker, Jackson Becker, Cailsen Lackey (Chancey), Joda Lackey, Byan Lackey, Lyree Royall, Nylah Shelton (JC), Riley O’Neill and Keely O’Neill. Her great-grandchildren are Arabella Shoaf, Nevaeh Costin and Ahmir Costin. She is also survived by her brothers, Charles Hayes, Timothy Hayes, Sr. and Douglas Hayes, as well as her stepbrothers Tom Balliet, David Balliet, and Jay Balliet. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Beverly was well known for her humor and wit. She had a generous, compassionate spirit and exemplified her love for Christ daily. She loved glamping, scrapbooking, gardening, shopping, watching movies and spending time with family and friends. She was a faithful prayer warrior and loved the Lord with all of her heart. Her greatest desire was that others come to know Christ as their personal Savior. Visitation of the family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 from 10:00am –11:00am at Emanuel Reformed Church, 1170 Emanuel Church Rd., Thomasville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am. The family would like to thank JC Green & Sons Funeral Home as well as a special thanks to Pastor Ricky Payne and the members of Emanuel Reformed Church for their assistance with the service and their hospitality.
