Billie Ann Welborn Alcon

Mrs. Billie Ann Welborn Alcon, 86, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020 at the Hospice Home at High Point.  She was born on April 15, 1934 in Forsyth County, NC to John William Welborn and Maggie Payne Welborn.

Billie was a devoted wife and mother investing her life’s work as a homemaker.  She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was an amazing cook, baker, seamstress, needle crafter and basket weaver.  She spent numerous hours gardening, canning, and freezing.  She especially loved growing beautiful flowers and the birds and butterflies they attracted.  She was a life long member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where she served in numerous ways over the years including being a deacon’s wife.  She most recently was a member of the Helping Hands Sunday School class, the members of which she dearly loved.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Johnny Carl (J.C.) Alcon on June 30, 2012; sisters, Cora Mae Willard, Bessie Edwards, Margaret Cline, Gladys (Pat) Griffin; and brother, John W. Welborn, Jr.

Surviving is her son, Carl Alcon and wife Sonya; two daughters, Kim Frank and husband Robert and Jennifer Blevins and husband Tim; six grandchildren, Benjamin Frank and wife Erin, Jonathan Frank and wife Amanda, Jessica Alcon, Cory Alcon and wife Jennifer, Maggie Blevins, and Alcon (Allie) Blevins; four great-grandchildren, Grayson, Larkin, Colton, and Nora Frank; sister, Betty Welborn Alcon; and many special in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Cantrell and Rev. Josh Jacobs officiating.  The family respectfully asks that those in attendance please wear a mask.  A private family interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Mrs. Alcon will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, 10301 N NC Highway 109, until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service and she will lie in state at the funeral home on Sunday, October 18, 2020 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM for members of the community to pay their respects.  There will be no formal visitation.  Memorials may be directed to Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 2817 Abbotts Creek Church Rd.
