Billy Ross Bowling, 92, of Thomasville went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 31, 2026 at High Point Medical Center surrounded by his cherished family.
Billy was born on August 21, 1933 the son of the late Arthor Robert Bowling and Irene Walton Bowling of Burlington. He served his country in the United States Army as a Private First-Class Sharpshooter. Billy worked as a truck driver for 35 years at JP Stevens, Ryder, and Hydro Conduit Rinker. He attended Bethel Global Methodist Church in Thomasville.
Billy loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His second love was cars, fast cars. He enjoyed his 1964 GTO and his Mustangs. He shared this passion with his grandsons. He adored and doted on his granddaughters. His favorite place was at his cabin on High Rock Lake surrounded by family and friends.
Billy will be remembered for his quiet strength, friendly smile, steadfast faith, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the values he instilled, and the countless memories his family and friends will forever hold close to their hearts.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by five siblings, Paul, James, Sophia, Elbert, and Robert Bowling.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 69 years, Sarah Turner Bowling of the home; his faithful daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” Simpson (Ricky) of Lexington, Debra “Debbie” Kennedy (Steve) of Thomasville, Patricia “Patti” Woods (Rodger) of Harmony; four siblings, Eunice Griffin, Betty Lou Lee (Bob), Harold Bowling (Virginia), Marie Moore (Rick); sister-in-law Becky Bowling; six beloved grandchildren, Todd Kennedy, Sarah “Elizabeth” Owens (Nick), Emily Young (Robert), Mary “Paige” Simpson, Kody Kennedy, Joshua Woods; four great-grandchildren, Mason, Olivia, Oakley, Hudson Owens; numerous nieces, nephews, and his Terry House breakfast buddies.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Global Methodist Church in Thomasville with Rev. Reuben Rinker officiating. Burial with military honors will be held following at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service in the church family life center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bethel Global Methodist Church designated to the playground fund, 508 Fisher Ferry Street, Thomasville, NC 27360. Memorials may also be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
