Billy Hedrick Obituary

Mr. Billy Bruce Hedrick, 88, of Thomasville went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Mr. Hedrick was born on January 4, 1933 to James William (Will) Hedrick and Etta Lou Saintsing Hedrick.

He was married to Eunice Wilson Hedrick, his devoted and loving wife of 62 years who preceded him in death on December 9, 2017. He was a devoted loving Father to his two sons, Terry Hedrick of Asheboro and Gregory (Greg) Hedrick of Thomasville. In addition to his two sons, surviving is his twin brother, Bobby Hedrick, and many nieces and nephews.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dollie Hedrick Linthicum; brother-in-law, James (Leo) Linthicum; sister-in-law, Ann Hedrick; brother-in-law’s, Efird Wilson, Sr, Arvil Wilson, and Ray Cody; Sister-in-law’s, Arlene Cody, Wilma Wilson, and Maggie Wilson.

Billy was a 1951 graduate of Hasty High School where he and his twin brother, Bobby played basketball and baseball. He later graduated from High Point College where he was a member of the baseball team. Mr. Hedrick was employed by PPG Industries in Lexington for approximately 30 years.

Bill and his wife Eunice were longtime devoted and active members of Emanuel Reformed Church in Thomasville where they were members of the Young at Heart Sunday School Class. Bill Served as a Deacon, Elder, on numerous church committees, and was a member of the Men’s Brotherhood.   

Bill enjoyed a blessed and active retirement and particularly enjoyed playing golf, watching Atlanta Braves baseball and Carolina basketball. He and his twin brother, Bobby maintained a garden well into their 80’s. Billy particularly enjoyed sharing his crops with friends and neighbors. He was also a devoted caregiver to other family members.

Bill and Eunice were blessed with decades long friendships with neighbors, Delmar (his golfing buddy) and Alice Younts and Bill and Evelyn Reece. They also deeply valued visits from their friends, Darrell and Hilda Hedrick, and special Niece, Diane Stanley and William, and their daughter, Angie.

Due to Covid-19 concerns, a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Hedrick will lie in state at the JC Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville on Friday, January 8, 2020 from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM for anyone to come by and pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Emanuel Reformed Church, 128 Cedarland Drive, Thomasville, NC 27360.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com
