Billy Chester Murphy

Mr. Billy Chester Murphy, 87, a resident of Thomasville NC, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at North Pointe Assisted Living, in Mayodan, NC.

On January 2, 1934, he was born in Thomasville, NC, to the late Jess B Murphy and Emeline Owen Murphy. Bill was a graduate of Thomasville High School and UNC-Chapel Hill with degrees in Business and Music. He was President of Commercial Carving Company in Thomasville for over forty years. He was a well-respected leader by his employees and colleagues in the furniture manufacturing industry.

Bill will be remembered for his great sense of humor, love of a good ribeye steak, NASCAR Sundays and spending quality time with his family.  He was a loving husband, father, Pawpaw and friend; he will be greatly missed.

Bill was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Sandra Rothrock Murphy. He is survived by his son, Scott Murphy and wife Jerri of Thomasville, NC; daughters, Tammy and Melody Murphy, both of High Point, NC; grandson, Brian Murphy and wife Stephanie of Frisco, TX; great-grandchildren, Alexander and Sophia both of Frisco, Texas.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to North Pointe of Mayodan, 6970 NC Highway 135, Mayodan, NC 27027. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com.
