Bobby Joe Bray

Mr. Bobby Joe Bray, 87 a lifelong resident of Thomasville passed away peacefully on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Westchester Manor. He was born on August 21, 1933 in Davidson County, a son to the late Lester Bray and Nellie Ingram Bray. After graduating from Pilot High School in 1951, he attended Gardner Webb for two years and then he graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1955 with a B.S. in Business Administration with a major in accounting. He then served in the U S Army in Europe from 1956 until 1958. Bobby was a Certified Public Accountant and an honorary member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was an active member of both organizations for forty years. Bobby served as Vice President and Secretary of Gray Concrete Pipe Company for a number of years and a member of the Board of Directors. He was Thomasville Plant Manager for both Gray Concrete Pipe Line and Hydro Conduit Corporation. In addition to his many accomplishments, he also was elected President of The Thomasville Area Chamber of Commerce where he served on the Board of Directors in 1974. Bobby was a dedicated member of Rich Fork Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred Wilson Bray in 2012; brothers, Lester Jr., Jaycee E., E. Herman and Billy C. Bray; sisters, Mary Lee Edwards, Farrah Everhart, Elizabeth (Jib) Gordon and Juanita Lambeth.

Surviving is his daughter, Lori Bray Blalock and husband Guy of Boise, Idaho; son, Dr. David K. Bray and wife Carol of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother, Ronald Bray and wife Pat; grandchildren, Katie, Daniel and Samuel Bray, Kristin Berain and husband James, Ashleigh Davis and husband Ryan and Brittany Blalock; great-grandchildren, Aleena and Arabella Berain. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM at J C Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville officiated by Rev. Michael Bowers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
