Bobby Alvin Woodlieff, 93, of Thomasville, NC went home to be with his Lord Friday morning, May 16, 2025 at his residence.
Bobby was born September 13, 1931 to the late John H. Woodlieff and Dovie B. Lawson Woodlieff. Bobby learned the value of hard work growing up farming with his family in King, NC. He left home and served his country in the United States Army for a brief period. Bobby married Carolyn Embler on July 10, 1949 and they made their home in Thomasville. He was a self-made “Jack of All Trades” working as mechanic, heavy equipment operator, carpenter, farmer, and truck driver for many years. After the passing of his wife Carolyn, he married Mary Wynn Spangler, April 8, 2012. Bobby was a founding member of Faith Community Chapel and a founding board member of Carolina Christian Academy. He served the Lord through his many talents to build the Christian community we all share today. The legacy that Bobby built will live on in his family for many generations.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn E. Woodlieff in 2009; a son, Danny Woodlieff; three brothers and five sisters.
Surviving are his loving wife and caregiver, Mary Wynn Woodlieff of the home; two children, Barbara Carter and husband Tim, Johnny Woodlief and wife Janet; seven grandchildren, Daniel Woodlieff and wife Christie, Pamela Noegel and husband Matt, Clint Carter and wife Becky, Emily Vazquez and husband Julio, Carlin Spangler and husband Jay, Cayla Petty and husband Brad, and Jonathan Woodlief; ten great-grandchildren and two more “on the way”. He was also loved and admired by several step-children, step-grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 4:00 PM at Faith Community Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Jonathan Heath and Rev. Patrick Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 2:30 to 3:30 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Carolina Christian Academy Bobby Woodlieff Ballfield Online to honor his service.
