Bobby Ray Hedrick Obituary

Bobby Ray Hedrick, 89, a lifelong resident of Thomasville, passed away to his eternal home on July 28, 2025. Mr. Hedrick was born on May 19, 1936, to the late Allen and Virginia Hedrick. He attended and graduated from Pilot High School. He was also a lifelong member of Emanuel Reformed Church in Thomasville where he served in many capacities, from youth Sunday School teacher, to an Elder, was involved in several committees, and was a member of the Young at Heart Sunday School Class.

Bobby’s life trade was a self-employed brick mason, and he was known throughout the area for his many homes and projects that he helped build. His passion was to be a servant of the Lord and to tell people about the love and mercy that his Lord and Savior has to offer. One way the Lord used him was through the Gideon Ministry. Through this Ministry, he was able to hand people (young and old) a Bible and share the Good News. He also spent many years visiting the Davidson County Jail and spreading the Gospel to men who needed to hear of the hope and acceptance Christ has to offer. He was quick to say that this was his favorite season of life. It was his great joy to see the Lord working in the lives of many.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Pearce Hedrick and his daughter, Monica Underwood and her husband Edwin and two granddaughters, Madeline Ellington and her husband, Simon, and Elizabeth Underwood.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Leon Hedrick and his sister, Glenna Hedrick Dorsett.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Emanuel Reformed Church in Thomasville with Pastor Ricky Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville.

Memorials can be made to Emanuel Reformed Church, General Fund, 128 Cedarland Drive, Thomasville, NC 27360 or to Davidson Prison Ministry, PO Box 2131, Lexington, NC 27293
