Bro. Henry Waldo Hammonds, 72, of Thomasville went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Waldo was born December 19, 1949 to the late William Spurgeon Hammonds and Beulah Emma Altman Hammonds. He worked many years for Thomas Built Buses in High Point, retiring after 42 years. Bro. Hammonds was the pastor of Lexington Pentecostal Church of the Living God. Waldo’s love for Jesus showed in his daily walk and his genuine love of people.
In addition to his parents, Waldo was preceded in death by his son, William Henry Hammonds in 2014.
Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Ashburn Hammonds of the home; two children, Isaac Hammonds and wife Amanda of Greensboro, Crystal Kindley and husband Glenn of Thomasville; two brothers, Jesse Hammonds and wife Barbara of Thomasville, Wayne Hammonds and wife Joan of Denton; grandchildren, Cody Hammonds, Brittany Dills and husband Ed, Brian Hammonds, Allison Wray, Grace Hammonds; several extended family and church family.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Lexington Pentecostal Church of the Living God, 1214 South Salisbury Street, Lexington, NC 27292, with Bro. Larry Miller and Bro. Junior Hutchins officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville. The family will greet friends on Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the J.C. Green and Sons funeral home in Thomasville and all other times at the home. Memorials may be given to the church.
