Bruce Auburn Skeen, 81, of Wallburg, went home to be with the Lord on
April 11, 2025. He was born on October 12, 1943 to the late Clarence and Mabel Stinson Skeen. A graduate of High Point High School, he went on to GTCC for his Upholstery certification, and worked as an upholsterer at Woodmark Originals for 45 years. He was the owner of Auburn’s Upholstery, and was well-known in the Triad area until his retirement in 2021.
A life-long Christian, Bruce served as an Elder at New Life Family Church in Jamestown for over 20 years, and was most recently a member of Mount Pleasant Church in Thomasville, where he served on the Safety and Security Team until his retirement. Bruce absolutely loved dogs, and really enjoyed shrimp. He was also a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Carolina Tarheels.
Bruce is survived by his loved wife of 16 years, Debra Ann Skeen of the home, as well as Bruce’s children, daughter Lisa P. Skeen and wife Virginia Soyars of Summerfield, son Anthony C. (Tony) Skeen and wife Leann Skeen of Thomasville, two stepsons, Donnie R. Hester and wife Mary of Wallburg, and Chad D. Hester of Winston Salem, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Bruce’s first wife of 44 years, Linda Johnson Skeen, predeceased him in 2008.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life at Mount Pleasant Church, 6516 Old Greensboro Rd. Thomasville, NC, on April 19, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Lead Pastor Chris Clontz.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, NC or to the Mount Pleasant Church Building Fund.
