Buford Darrell Hunt

Mr. Buford Darrell Hunt, 75, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025 at the Henry Etta & Bruce Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.  He was born on September 19, 1949 in Davidson County, NC to Wilson Albert Hunt and Nancy Jane Morris Hunt.  Darrell was a proud US Marine Corps veteran and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was an autobody mechanic for the majority of his life working for Cooper Auto Sales, Therrell Body Shop, and Parrish Motor Company.  He retired from the Veteran’s Administration in Winston-Salem. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harvey Hunt and his wife Emma Jane, Cleveland Hunt, and Michael Hunt; his sisters, Claudette Storey, Peggy Evon, and Ann Coe; and brother-in-law, John Cooper.

On December 24, 1971, he married Cathy Cooper, who survives of the home; also surviving is his daughter, Rita Sigmon and husband Alvin of Thomasville; his son, Anthony Hunt and wife Jamie of Linwood; four grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Serina Sigmon, Curtis Waddell, Alivia Sigmon, and Leyna Sigmon; and sisters-in-law, Teresa Hill Hunt and Linda Cooper.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Reuben Rinker officiating.  Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home for visitation on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  Memorials may be directed to Bethel GMC, 508 Fisher Ferry St. Thomasville, NC 27360 or to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC  27292.
