Carlye (Bodenheimer) Kearns

Mrs. Carlye Bodenheimer Kearns, 92, of N. Clodfelter Road died Sunday, August 27, 2023.

She was born November 8, 1930 in Davidson County, NC a daughter of the late Era May and Clarence O. King but was raised by her maternal grandparents Andrew and Hattie Bodenheimer.

Carlye was a homemaker and retired from Paul’s Electric Motor Shop in 2001 as her husband’s secretary/bookkeeper. She was a member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Helping Hands Sunday School Class, The Friendly Circle, former Choir member, former teacher and had served in various other capacities in church organizations. On April 4, 1953 she was married to Paul Kearns, who preceded her in death on February 28, 2009. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother Maurice Mabe.

Surviving are two sons and wives, Randy and Sara Kearns of Topsail Beach and Chris and Tama Kearns of High Point; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Josh, Megan and Cori Kearns; three great-grandchildren, Myles Johnson, Aiden Davis and David Kearns; sister-in-law, Sue Mabe of High Point; cousin/sister, Haarala Shelton of Winston-Salem and several nieces and nephews.

Some of her favorite activities were gardening, working in flowers, fishing, reading and crocheting. She loved music, especially Gospel music. She dearly loved her husband, children, grandchildren, other family members and friends and animals especially dogs, cats and horses.

The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, September 1, 2023 at the J.C. Green and Sons Chapel in Wallburg, 10301 N. NC Highway 109, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home. The gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Jonathan Kearns, Josh Kearns, Jonathan Reid, Monty Shelton, Andrew Burcher and Clifford Butcher.  Online condolences may be sent to the Kearns family at www.jcgreenandsons.com.
