Carolyn Cook Stone, 78, a resident of Brookridge Life Plan Community and formerly of Hughes Grove Church Road in Thomasville went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
Carolyn was born June 21, 1947 to the late Kue Cook and Tiny Rabon Cook of Dillon County, SC. She worked for many years at Kayby Mills and attended Hughes Grove Baptist Church when her health permitted. Carolyn loved gardening, cooking, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Dempsey Stone; three sisters, Pauline Hood, Josephine Hood, Tiny Sports; two brothers, Fred Cook, Harry “Ed” Cook; beloved friends and neighbors, Carolyn Gross and Annie Hood.
Surviving are her daughter, Jackie Bathory (David) of Thomasville; a son, Clarence “CJ” Stone (Stephanie) of Middletown, DE; two sisters, Kathleen Carabo of Bennettsville, SC, Christine Jackson of Rocky Point, NC; three brothers, Robert Cook (Shirley) of Latta, SC, Kue Cook, Jr. (Shelby), Carl Cook (Jeanette) all of Oak Grove, SC; four grandchildren, Joshua Hunt, Jordan Stone, Sage Stone, Brelee Stone; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and neighbors.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to April Carter, niece Mary Ann Cook Tarbox, the staff of Trellis Supportive Care of Winston-Salem and the seventh-floor staff of Brookridge Health Care Center for their kindness and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103.
