Carolyn Denese Hughes

Mrs. Carolyn Denese Hughes, 81, of E. US Highway 64, Thomasville, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024 at the Henry Etta & Bruce Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.  She was born on December 9, 1942 in Davidson County, NC to Clyde Lester Hughes and Sadie Elizabeth Kinley Hughes.  After graduating from High School, she went to college at Carolina Beauty College in High Point.  She then went into another field, where she was a manager at Wil-Pak in High Point for 7 years and after that she took another job as manager at Liberty Embroidery in Madison, NC for 8 years.  She lived for the Lord and attended Pleasant Grove Methodist Church on E. Old Highway 64.  She loved church and all the people that attended loved her and she loved them. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dwight Sluder; and 3 brothers, Donald Lester Hughes, Frankie Edward Hughes, and GB Hughes. 

Surviving is her son, Curtis Wayne Sluder of Thomasville with all his memories of his mother; her best friend, Frank Sides of Thomasville; her brother, Odie Paul Hughes and wife Linda of Thomasville; her sister, Jeweldean Hughes Kinney of Lexington; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Sam Lewis officiating.  No formal visitation will be held.  The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff of Hospice of Davidson County for their kindness and loving care.  Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC  27292.
