Mrs. Carrol Perdue Duke, 73, of Thomasville went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Abbotts Creek Health and Rehab in Lexington. Carrol was born June 19, 1950 in Guilford County to the late Johnny Perdue and Nancy Childress Perdue. Carrol was a faithful member of Hillside Park Baptist Church for numerous years. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, member of WMU, and the ladies’ prayer group. Carrol always had the words to lift up others even when she was going through so many health battles herself. She had a contagious smile and heart full of love. She worked many years in the hosiery mill in her younger years and lastly worked at Furnitureland South for sixteen years before retiring. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend; she will be greatly missed. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Larry” Lawrence Duke, Sr. on October 24, 2020; and one sister, Wanda Flowers.
Surviving is her daughter, Angela Duke Whitford and husband Paul; three sons, Walter Lawrence Duke, Jr., James Christopher “Chris” Duke and wife Angie, Curtis DeWayne Duke; two sisters, Shelia Hanes and husband Chip, Tessie Thompson and husband Dale; eight grandchildren; and eleven great- grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 11:00AM at Hillside Park Baptist Church in Thomasville with Rev. Dr. Steve Chipps officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends at Hillside Park Baptist Church in Thomasville on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM.
