Catherine Eliza (Ratliff) Young

Mrs. Catherine Eliza Ratliff Young, 67, a resident of Trinity, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020 in High Point Regional Medical Center. Cathy was born in Logan, WV to the late Clarence and Helen Kimbler Ratliff on November 18, 1952. She retired from the United States Postal Service after several years of service. On June 15, 1970 she married the love of her life, Billy Ray Young. Mrs. Young was an avid sports fan; she enjoyed the Atlanta Braves, Duke Basketball, and the Carolina Panthers. Cathy was a member of the Billy “Crash” Craddock Fan Club. She and her husband would travel to see him every chance they had. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her life. Cathy was a member of New Heights Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Hunt and a sister, Billie Jean Vance.

Cathy is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Bill Young, of the home; daughters, Tara Hunt and husband James of Trinity and Melissa Young of Thomasville; sisters, Sandra Taylor and husband Michael of Sophia, Gwen Allen of Thomasville, and Nancy Mattas of Thomasville; grandchildren, Brittany Hunt, Kristin Swaney and fiancé Ryan Trammell, Bradley Hunt and wife Kathleen, Corey Hunt and wife Brooklyn, and Taylor Young; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Brayden, Cash, Matthew, Kenzie, Brantley, and Lilee; a best friend, Lyndia Richardson of Trinity; several nieces and nephews; and a fur-baby, Sparky.

A private funeral service will be held by the family in New Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Porter officiating. Interment will follow the service in Holly Hill Memorial Park. Cathy will remain at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home until late Wednesday for anyone who would like to come pay their respects.
