Catherine "Cathy" (Byrd) Hedgpeth

Mrs. Catherine Byrd Hedgpeth, 84, passed away on October 9, 2025. She was born in Erwin, NC to Catherine McLean Byrd and Jesse Henry Byrd, Sr. on June 12, 1941. She attended Linden Elementary School and Salem Academy in Winston-Salem. She graduated from Greensboro College and taught school in High Point and Lewisville.

She was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church of Thomasville and served generously in many capacities for over 50 years. She volunteered for the Thomasville Guild and the Thomasville Beautification Committee. She joined the Phi Beta Book Club and enjoyed bridge, cross-stitching, and tennis.

She is survived by her dear husband, Joseph R. Hedgpeth, daughters Catherine Louise Anderson and Christin B. Hedgpeth, and grandchildren Catherine Ann Anderson and Joseph Claude Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jesse Henry Byrd, Jr.

The family suggests that any memorials be sent to First Presbyterian Church of Thomasville, Cooperative Community Ministry of Thomasville, or Hospice of Davidson County.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church of Thomasville. A reception in the church Fellowship Hall will follow the service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com
