Charles Edward Stanley

Mr. Charles Edward Stanley, 87, of Trinity, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at Atrium Health High Point Medical Center. 

Charles was born on January 27, 1936 in Four Oaks, NC to Walter Noah Stanley and Sally Ann Parker Stanley.  He was a man of integrity and character with a jovial sense of humor who never met a stranger.  Charles was an entrepreneur beginning his career as an upholsterer and eventually owning his own furniture manufacturing business, which he led with his wife.  After retiring from furniture, he became a licensed contractor and built residential housing.  He was also a licensed real estate agent and broker during his working years.  Charles was a lifetime student always learning and sharpening his skills.  He attended Mt. Gilead Church in Sophia and enjoyed worshipping with his community.  Over the years, Charles enjoyed raising small horses and donkeys.  His favorite hobby was tending and caring for his last 2 small horses Redman and Smokey and a Jerusalem donkey named Little Jack.  Charles was a faithful solider of the cross and dedicated to his family.  His family was his earthly crown.  Never failing them or forsaking his God given role as leader of the home.  He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and demonstrated that love in his words and actions.  Our Papa has left our family and our hearts are broken, but we know he has received his heavenly crown.

He was predeceased by both parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.  Charles was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Randy Cecil, and granddaughter Anna Rebecca Cecil.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 64 years, Ruth Wall Stanley.  One son Brent Stanley (Margaret) of Archdale, three daughters Susan Ruddock (Rudy), Rebecca Cecil, and Sandra Clement (Chris) all of High Point.  Two granddaughters Morgan Smith (Michael) and Katie Rebert (Dusty).  5 grandsons Jamie Ruddock, Spencer Stanley, Noah Clement, Nick Cecil & Parker Smith.  Ten great grandchildren Lily, Abigail, Caroline, Addie, Natalie, Avery, Eli, J.T., Carson, & Lexie.  He also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Ruth S. Stanley and many beloved nieces and nephews.  One inside fur baby Bo.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 2 PM at Mt. Gilead Church with Rev. Norman Weeks and Rev. Mike Wall officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Charles will lie in state at the church on Monday from 1 PM – 2 PM prior to the service for members of the community to pay their respects.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mt.
