Cheryl Marie (Longwell) Hawkins

Mrs. Cheryl Marie Longwell Hawkins, 72, a resident of Thomasville passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at her home. She was born on March 28, 1948 in Follansbee, West Virginia to the late George Franklin Longwell and Mary Katherine Weaver. She was a soldier in the Salvation Army and had a love for riding motorcycles and going camping. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing word finds and spending time with her family. Cheryl was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and best friend; she will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Henry Hawkins.

Surviving are her daughter, Jackie Hawkins Edwards and husband George of Thomasville; son, Michael Hawkins and wife Christina of Thomasville; five grandchildren, Michael Edwards, Lexi Edwards, Elizabeth Hawkins, Joseph Hawkins, and Sydney Hawkins; four sisters, Judy Phelps (Rick), Barbara Johnston (Bob), Deborah Fernandez (Benny), Mary Scheetz (Frank); four brothers, Michael Longwell (Cindy), Marty Longwell, Tom Longwell, and Casey Longwell; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hawkins will lie in state at the JC Green & Sons funeral home on Monday, May 18, 2020 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A private family service will be held at the JC Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Sidney Lanier officiating. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com.
