Mr. Clay Kendall Lambeth, 84 of Fletcher, North Carolina passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, January 9, 2021. Clay was born December 3, 1936 in Thomasville, NC to Charles “Hite” Lambeth and Callie Warner Lambeth. Clay graduated from Thomasville High School and from Catawba College in 1959. During college and afterward, he served in the Marine Corps Reserves. Clay worked for R.J. Reynolds in various sales and management positions for 34 years before retiring in December 1993. During his time with Reynolds, Clay and his family moved extensively - living in California, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaysia, North Carolina, and Ohio before settling in Pennsylvania in 1978. Clay and his wife Marilyn resided in Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania for 32 years before returning to North Carolina. Clay is remembered as an avid golfer, meticulous landscaper, passionate football fan (regardless of the teams), and dedicated reader of Investor’s Business Daily. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Asheville, North Carolina, and beforehand, a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time volunteering at Upper St. Clair Memorial Hospital and playing golf with friends at Lindenwood Golf Club. Clay is preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Hite” Lambeth and Callie Warner Lambeth, his brother Dean Lambeth and brother Spurgeon Lambeth. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn Lambeth; two children: Spencer Lambeth and wife Kim, Justin Lambeth and wife Kathryn; 3 grandchildren: Mason, Harrison, and Preston Lambeth; and one sister, Jeanette Fulk.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 6th at 11am at JC Green & Sons Funeral Home, 122 W Main Street, Thomasville, North Carolina. A burial of ashes will immediately follow the service at Calvary United Church of Christ, 1411 Lexington Avenue in Thomasville.
