Collis “CJ” Jermaine Stukes was born to the late Loretta Stukes Pendergrass on September 29,1979 in Winston Salem, NC. He departed this life on July 10, 2026.
Affectionately called “CJ” by family and friends, he attended Thomasville High School and completed his GED at what was previously known as Davidson County Community College. He continued his secondary education at DDCC and completed online classes at Strayer University majoring in Business Administration. He was employed at Advantage Distributing and Family Dollar in Thomasville, NC.
CJ enjoyed playing pool and chess, fishing, drawing, writing, electronics and building things. And let’s not forget playing GTA. A lover of music, CJ would play the bass for hours as he perfected his craft. He was also a car enthusiast. Known for big heart, CJ was kind and would help anyone in need. On the third anniversary of his mother’s passing, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Preceding CJ in death are his mother, Loretta Stukes Pendergrass; grandfather, who raised him, Deacon John Q. Stukes, Sr.; grandparents, Elijah and Olivia Thomas; aunts, Josephine Thomas Owens and Louise Hairston; uncles, John Richburg and James Allen and a devoted cousin/brother, Jonathan Tillman.
He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Adrianna Stukes; father, Brooks (Carolyn) Thomas; step-father, Harry Pendergrass; two brothers, Jerod Thomas and Lawerence Thomas; grandmother who raised him, Annie Pearl Stukes; aunts, Julia Ann Tillman, Annie Fay Kearns (Otis McLaughlin),Sue Hunt, Shirley Protho, Marguerite Conyers and Eloise (Al) Thomas; uncles, John Q. Stukes, Jr., George Parker (Bernice)Wright and Minster Bernell (Dorothy) Mickens; cousins, Porsha Cox, Tina Coleman, Tara Coleman, Jerod Stukes, Brandon Stukes and Cameron Lindsey; Godmothers, Ann Canty and Linda Mickens; right-hand man Travis Hawkins and a special and devoted friend, Lakesha “Kesha” Henderson.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 3:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with family visitation to begin at 2:30 PM. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, July 17, 2026 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
