Cornelia Dalphine Perry Walker, 92, a resident of Davidson County, went to her heavenly home on Saturday evening, July 18, 2026 at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville.  Cornelia was born on September 16, 1933, a daughter to the late Lester Perry and Naomi Hedrick Perry.  She met and married the love of her life on June 17, 1949, Joe Edward Walker and they enjoyed 70 years as husband and wife, before his passing August 10, 2019.  Cornelia worked in the cafeteria for Thomasville City Schools and retired after 19 years of loyal employment.  She attended Thomasville Church of God her whole life and was a member for 65 years.  Cornelia was very active and devoted to her church, such as serving as a Children’s Sunday School Teacher, participating with the Golden Club for fundraising efforts and was a dedicated member of the choir.  She enjoyed cooking and also was a very talented seamstress, even making the bridesmaids dresses and veils for her daughter’s wedding.  Most importantly, however, she was a devoted woman of God, who loved the Lord, her husband, daughters, and her church.  She will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. 

In addition to her parents and her husband, Cornelia is preceded in death by her son, Joe Michael Walker; a grandson, Benjamin Hunt; two brothers, Ray Perry and Jimmy Perry; and her sister, Lily Pearl Day. 

Surviving is her daughters, Teresa Pitman and husband Melvin, Darlene Leonard and husband Horace, Donna Mariani and husband Tom; five grandchildren, Michael Pitman, Dennis Pitman, Kelli Hunt, Ryan Leonard, Joshua Leonard; three great-grandchildren, Zanna Pitman, Madelyn Leonard, Grayson Leonard; special friend, Doris Everhart and many other extended family members.  The family would like to thank the caretakers at Piedmont Crossing and Alderwood Hospice for the excellent care provided to their mother, especially her nurse, Tracey.   

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Thomasville Church of God 1200 W. Holly Hill Road, Thomasville, with Pastor Alan Greene officiating.  The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM at the church, prior to the service.  Burial will follow the service at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Thomasville Church of God P.O.
