Dallas Elmer Hutchens Obituary

Mr. Dallas Elmer Hutchens, 90, a resident of Duke Street, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Thomasville Medical Center.  He was born on December 18, 1929 in Randolph County, NC to Spencer Floyd Hutchens and Clara Mae Jones Hutchens.  He was a US Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries.  He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and he and his wife delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Haltom Hutchens on May 29, 2003, whom he married on September 29, 1956; his brothers, Worth Hutchens, James (Jim) Hutchens and Roy Hutchens; and his sister, Dorothy Johnson.

Surviving is his son, Mark Hutchens and wife Lori of Thomasville; grandson, Levi Garrick Hutchens and wife Brittany; his pride and joy, great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Hutchens; brother, Harold Hutchens and wife Marilyn of Carolina Beach, NC; sisters, Ruby Nixon and husband Earl of Greensboro, Mary Reece of Thomasville, and Trish Loftin and husband Wade of Trinity; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Faye Kanoy of Thomasville.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 28, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Danny Leonard officiating.  Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.  Visitation will be on Monday prior to the service from 12:00 – 1:30 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4615 Dundas Dr. Greensboro, NC 27407 or to Thomasville Meals on Wheels, c/o Citrin & Whitman, 22 Winston St. Thomasville, NC  27360.  Online condolences may be sent to www.jcgreenandsons.com.
