Dalton Ervin Myers, Jr., 66 of Thomasville went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at his residence.

 

Dalton was born September 21, 1955 to the late Dalton Ervin Myers, Sr. and Nancy Carol Royals Myers in High Point. He was a life-long resident of Thomasville and member of First Baptist Church. Dalton graduated from Thomasville High School, class of 1973. He attended Guilford College, playing baseball for four years and graduating in 1977. Dalton then played semi-pro baseball for the Burlington Indians minor league team of the Cleveland Indians. After his parents passing, he and his wife Sharon owned and operated Dalton Myers Oil Company. Dalton was a mason and also sponsored and coached a little league baseball team for many years through Thomasville Parks and Recreation. His passion was fishing at Carolina Beach where as a young man he worked as a life guard each summer from 1977-1981. Dalton will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

 

In addition to his parents, Dalton was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles. Surviving is his wife of 39 years, Sharon Corn Myers of the home; two children, Robert Dalton Myers of Wilmington, Abbey Melissa Myers of Thomasville; a granddaughter, Paige Myers of Wilmington; a sister, Linda Carol Thrift and husband Wayne of Asheboro; aunt, Mary Royals of GA; special nieces, Melanie Kestler, Megan Thrift, Lindsay Thrift; special nephew, Mitchell Bradley; special great-niece and nephew, Izaiah and Marley; many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  

 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11 AM at First Baptist Church in Thomasville with Rev. Eddie Hawkins and Rev. Mike Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville. The family will greet friends on Friday night 6 to 8 PM at the J.C. Green and Sons funeral home in Thomasville.
