Daniel Sanders Obituary

Daniel (Danny) Edward Sanders departed this earthly life on July 15, 2020 at the Broward Imperial Point Medical Center, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Daniel Edward Sanders was born in Wilson, NC to the late Eula Sanders Whitley.  He was educated in the High Point North Carolina City School system after moving there in 1960.  Daniel was saved and called by the Lord to preach the gospel at the young age of ten.  He joined the True Standard Holiness Church of God where the late Bishop Alice M. Smith was the pastor.  She was a great mentor and spiritual leader for him.  He learned a lot about how to live holy for the Lord to use him.

At the age of 14, Minister Sanders joined First Emanuel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Lawrence Curtis and was ordained as one of the youngest ministers at that time.  He later began to travel and run revivals across the United States.  In 1977 Minister Sanders started studies at John Wesley College to obtain a Bachelor of Theology Degree.  He later transferred in 1979 to Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. While there he joined the Jerusalem Holy Church with Pastor Olive C. Brown and his spiritual mentor and Father, Bishop James F.  Brown.  Minister Sanders began to pastor at the Mt. Sinai Holy Church, Palmyra, Virginia in 1982.

In 1984 Minister Sanders served under the leadership of the late Bishop Lawrence Levi Taylor, pastor of the Fountain of Deliverance, Richmond, Virginia.  Minister Sanders was ordained as an Elder.

Elder Sanders opened three churches, one in High Point, NC – Praise Tabernacle of Deliverance, 1986 and Greater Works Revival Ministries in 1990, New Beginnings, Troy, NC 1995.

Elder Sanders was consecrated to the office of Bishop in 1998 at the Pneuma Pentecostal Church of Deliverance, Thomasville, NC under the leadership of Apostle Faye Duncan-Thomas and Bishop Tommie Lee Thomas.  He remained faithful there for many years.  Bishop Sanders was appointed Vice Bishop and Chairman of the Board of Presbytery, Overseer of the North Carolina District and National Evangelist.

In 2004 Bishop Sanders obeyed God and stepped out on faith and started an outreach ministry, Greater Works Revival Crusade, Inc. in Thomasville, NC, at which time he was the overseer of the Upper Room Intercessory Prayer and Worship Center – Pastor – Elder Brenda C. Young, Thomasville, NC and the Open Door of Deliverance Ministries Inc – Pastor – Elder Ann Diggs, Winston Salem, NC.

Bishop Daniel Sanders took on a new chapter of his life and to share in that chapter became married to Henrietta Bell (Sanders) on August 4, 2007.  There were no children born from this union, but there were later added two Pomeranian fur (dog) babies Buster and Buttons.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Eula Sanders Whitley, brothers Kenneth Ray Sanders, Calvin Morris Whitley and sister Elizabeth Whitley.

Bishop Daniel Sanders leaves to cherish his memories  his life partner – Henrietta Bell Sanders, brother Willie Ray Sanders of Baltimore, MD, Warnella “Buck” Whitley, Samuel Whitley, Jr., both of High Point, NC, sisters Arlesa Whitley, Hickory, NC, Molly Faye Whitley of High Point, NC, Aunt Eloise Barnes Sanders of Wilson, NC, nieces Maleika and husband Gary Fox of Sacramento, CA, October Marsh, Zynichyona Oliver, Sappira Gainey of High Point, NC,  Khadijah Sassafras of Hickory, NC, nephews Khareem Sassafras, Khalieb Henry of Hickory, NC and a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews, spiritual brothers and sisters, Bishops and pastor colleagues and special Godson – Elder Reco Worthy.
