Mr. Danny Ray Murphy, 74, of Lexington, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 22, 2026 at Atrium Health High Point Medical Center. He was born on September 26, 1951 in Davidson County, Thomasville, NC to Victor Ray Murphy and Jannie Kathleen Jarrett Murphy. He worked for Swaim Originals in High Point and loved to fish and work in the vegetable garden. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Church and attended Greenwood Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a special brother, Jim Benfield and a special sister, Sandra Mullies.
Surviving are his brothers, David Watford Murphy and wife Jaime of Thomasville and Victor Dean Murphy of Lexington; a special sister, Tammy Cecil of Farmer; his two nephews, Jason Murphy and Dillon Murphy; and his special cousin, pastor, and friend, who meant the world to Danny, Mitchel Hayworth and his wife Audra, and their children, Sloan and Morgan.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Greenwood Baptist Church with Pastor Mitchel Hayworth officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A private family burial will be held at Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Greenwood Baptist Church Building Fund, 1010 Lexington Ave. Thomasville, NC 27360.
