Darlene "Sissy" Lackey

Darlene “Sissy” Lackey, 65, of Thomasville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Pine Ridge Heath and Rehabilitation. Darlene was born February 9,1956 in Swain County to the late Claude D. Lackey and Meter Styles. Darlene was an angel on earth; she was born with cerebral palsy and fought a long hard fight but never lost her smile or sweet spirit. She was an encouragement to everyone that came to visit with her. She was a wonderful sister, aunt and friend; she will be greatly missed by so many.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her four brothers, James Lackey, Tommy Lackey and Alvin Lackey, Samuel Lackey; one sister, Grace Lackey Lingerfelt.

Surviving are her three brothers, Daniel Lackey and wife Cathy of Lexington, Manuel Lackey and wife Ruby of Thomasville and David Lackey of High Point; one sister-in-law, Alice Lackey. Darlene also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Monday, November 29, 2021 at 2:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville with Rev. Amos Mashburn officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00PM-2:00 PM.
