David Bert McDonald, 54, of Lexington, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 25, 2026 at his residence. David was born September 15, 1971, in Dade County, Florida, to the late Neal R. McDonald and Joyce Wilkes McDonald. He was a sought-after auto mechanic and loved to work on cars. Anything Ford or Mustang related was David’s “thing” – he loved them. He was always staying busy and couldn’t sit still. David enjoyed fishing at the lake, spending time with his family and making everybody around him laugh. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a niece, Cortlyn “Cori” Dienes and a nephew, Austin Hoke.
Surviving is his daughter, Saige McDonald and her fiancé, Ethan Earls of Archdale; his fiancé, Jennifer Stogner and her son, Jared Holifield of the home; his twin sister, Autumn Laster; three brothers, Tony McDonald and wife, Janice, Tim McDonald, and Todd McDonald and wife, Felicia; a grandson, Ryder; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service to honor David’s life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville, with Pastor Scott Jackson officiating. The family will greet friends after the service at the funeral home and at other times, at the home of his sister, Autumn Laster, 6101 Muddy Creek Road, Archdale, NC.
