DeLois Swaim Obituary

Mrs. DeLois “Dee” Shepherd Swaim. Age 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 while at her home and surrounded by family passing peacefully.  She was born on February 29, 1932 in Forsyth County to the late Paul Eugene and Flora Crater Shepherd. Dee was a graduate of Reynolds High School and had retired from RJR Tobacco where she was a secretary in the personnel department.  She was a member of Friedland Moravian Church and always loved going to church when she was able and would read the daily text every single day. Dee loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed cooking for the whole family, especially making desserts that had to be had after mealtime.  Even though she worked outside the home her heart was always being at home and serving her family.  After retirement she and her husband loved to travel together to the beach and Florida always being their favorite places to go together.  She loved baseball from a very young age and later in life they both were big fans of the Atlanta Braves following every game on tv and were so excited when the Braves once again won the World Series in 2021 since their win in 1995.  They were able to enjoy making a few trips to Atlanta to cheer their favorite team on at Turner Field with some of their family members over the years.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Douglas Swaim; brother, Paul E. Shepherd, Jr.; and sister, Mary Frances Estep.

Those left to cherish Dee’s memory include her daughters, Beverly Swaim of High Point, and Lisa Sprinkle (Terry) of Winston-Salem; son, Mark Swaim of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Brent Sprinkle (Stefani), and Brittany Smejkal (Jake); seven great-grandchildren, Rohan Sprinkle, Rexton Sprinkle, Remnant Sprinkle, Rilia Sprinkle, Solomon Smejkal, Mary-Elisabeth Smejkal, and Abel Smejkal.
