Mrs. Debbie Jean Curry Draughn, 62 of Thomasville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at her residence. Debbie was born November 20, 1958 to the late Charles Harold Curry and Ruby Kinley Curry in Davidson County. She was a member at Johnsontown United Methodist Church. Debbie worked many years as a Human Resource Manager at Liberty Wood Nursing Home; she was a licensed Cosmetologist, and attended All American Beauty Academy, which was owned by her family. She was also a licensed Phlebotomist, and was extremely talented in all she did. Debbie loved traveling, going to the beach and doing “porch therapy” with her neighbors and dear friends. She enjoyed doing crafts and watching reality TV shows. Her greatest joy in life was her family and grandbabies, there is nothing she wouldn’t do for them. Debbie was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend; she will be greatly missed. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Vickie Darlene Curry Parrish.
Surviving is her loving husband of 42 years, Wayne Hal Draughn of the home; two sons, David “DJ” Draughn (Crystal), Larry Draughn (Shelia); one daughter, Shannon Craver (Travis); one sister, Pat Allen (Earl); seven grandchildren, Levi (Autumn), Avery, Cali, Violet, Jaylen Ray, Luke, and Liz; numerous nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law, Jerry Parrish; four loyal fur companions, Sasha, Scruffy, Moo Moo, Maggie Mae; one bird, BJ.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11:00AM at Johnsontown United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Sidney Lanier officiating. The family will receive friends at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be sent to Davidson County Humane Society, PO Box 1791, Lexington, NC 27293.
