Deborah Brooks Obituary

Mrs. Deborah Lynn Lawson Brooks, 65, a resident of Davidson County passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.  Debbie was born January 27, 1961, in Forsyth County, North Carolina to Aubrey Everett Lawson and the late Inge Ruth Parker Lawson.  She graduated from Ledford Senior High School in 1979, earned degrees from a few different colleges and enjoyed being a student. She worked for Best Western, American Express and as a medical coding and transcriptionist.  Debbie was a devoted member of Fair Grove Global Church in Thomasville.  She was a member of the “Lucy Girls”, the Bell Ringers, the Wesleyan Women Groups at the local and district levels and helped with many tasks over the years.  Debbie loved knitting and all things related to “crafting”.  She enjoyed going to the Southern Living Showcase and walking through antique shops. Debbie absolutely loved her cats and her Blythe Leonard bags. Her most enjoyment came from spending time with her husband and family, especially her nephews and their children. In 1996, Debbie married the love of her life, Tony Brooks and they enjoyed 30 years as husband and wife before her passing.

Surviving is her husband, Tony Brooks of the home; her father, Aubrey Lawson; her sister, Jill Brendle and husband Ricky; two nephews and their families, Wesley Brendle, wife Leah and children, Jovie, Reagan, Leighton, Josh Brendle and wife Sally and children, Maddie, Abby, Millie and Paxton; her brother-in-law, Rodney Brooks and her father-in-law, Ronnie Brooks.  Debbie was a loyal wife, sister and friend to many and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
