Deborah Elizabeth (Koontz) Giles

Deborah Elizabeth Koontz Giles, age 69, of Kernersville passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025 while at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.  She was born on December 5, 1955 in Forsyth County a daughter of the late Otis and Julia Keaton Koontz.  Deb was a homemaker and made this area home most of her life.  She loved country living, cooking, spending time with family.  Deb enjoyed trips to the beach and mountains, and loved her cats. In addition to her parents, Deb is preceded in death by a brother, David Koontz and a sister, Carol Helper.

Surviving is her son, Otis Whisenhunt (Judy Thacker) of Wallburg; daughter, Lilly Keaton (Bob) of Cherry Grove; stepsister, Christina Qwyen of Pinnacle; brother, John Koontz; sisters, Barbara Watkins (Michael) of Winston-Salem, Virginia, Mary Koontz (James) of Kernersville; five grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at a date and time to be determined at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 3250 High Point Road, Winston-Salem.
