Diane "Penny" (Haynes) Shaver

Diane (Penny) Haynes Shaver, 59, of Winston-Salem, peacefully passed away at home on July 14, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family. Penny was born on April 21, 1962 in Guilford County to the late Ronald Haynes and the late Mary Herndon Cook. She attended Triad Church of Christ. She was educated in Guilford County schools. Prior to her illness, Penny was employed by Cone Health as an Ophthalmology Technician. She was admired by her co-workers and patients.

Penny loved fishing and camping with her husband, dancing and cooking for others. She never met a stranger, always had a smile for you and a quick-witted sense of humor. Penny was an animal lover and had a special place in her heart for cats.

Penny is survived by her husband, Joe Shaver of the home; brother Michael Haynes (wife Kay); step-daughter, Kacie Shaver (Fiancé, Michael Tyler); sister-in-law, Sue Fox (husband Sam); brother-in-law, Kim Shaver; sister-in-law, Jane Shaver (husband Don – deceased); nieces and nephews. A special thanks to cousin Pat Miller (husband Darrell) for helping to care for Penny.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at J.C. Green and Sons Wallburg Chapel. Minister David Miller and Sean Brewer will be officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home, 10301 N. NC Highway 109, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Penny’s memory may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
