Mr. Donald Ray Loftin, 81 a resident of Davidson County passed away on January 12, 2021 at Thomasville Medical Center. Donald was born on August 18, 1939 in Guilford County, a son to the late Ray A Loftin and Bessie Byerly Loftin. He was a member of Burton Street Missionary Methodist Church and was the owner and operator of A & L Label. He loved racing events and attending them to support his son Steve, grandson, Josh and great-grandson Carson as they competed in this exciting sport. He was avid Duke fan and could be found watching hours of their sporting events. He rarely missed one. Donald also enjoyed relaxing on the front porch in his rocking chair and that is where his great-granddaughter, Kenley adopted her love for this as well. In addition to his parents Donald’s wife Shirley Loftin preceded him in death.
Surviving are his son, Steve Loftin and wife Tara of Thomasville; brother, Richard Loftin and wife Helen of Thomasville; grandchildren, Whitney Freeman and husband Nick of Sophia and Josh Loftin of Thomasville; great-grandchildren, Carson, Kenley and Maelyn. He also leaves behind his fur baby Pudgie and extended relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Burton Street Missionary Methodist Church with Michael Barnes and Tim Burton officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow in Burton Street Missionary Methodist Church Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 concerns the family request that mask is worn during services.
