Mr. Donald (Don) Dean Hanchock, 84, of Lexington, NC and formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025.
Don was born April 3, 1941 in Elkhorn, WV (McDowell County) a son of the late John Hanchock and the late Thelma Evelyn Belcher Hanchock and had made this area his home for the past sixty years. He was a maintenance foreman while working at Hanes Die and Finishing. Don proudly served his country during the years of 1959 – 1963 in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening, NASCAR and reading his Bible daily.
Surviving is his best friend and caregiver Pansy Hanchock of the home; his son, John Dean Hanchock and his wife Cheryl of New Hampshire; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his son-in-law, David Lee and his canine companion Benny. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Yvonne Porter; his brother, Robert; his sisters, Lois, T.J., Carol and Barbara.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Canaan United Methodist Church with Pastor Jay Bowers officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00PM on Friday at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home, 10301 N, NC, Highway 109, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 (Wallburg Community). In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 202 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
