Donald "Don" Wilborne, Sr. Obituary

Mr. Donald “Don” Wilborne, Sr., 92, of Thomasville passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Hospice Home at High Point. Don was born March 12, 1933 in Halifax County, Virginia to the late Jefferson Davis Wilborne, Sr. and Nora Scott Wilborne. Don served his country in the United States Army. He was a faithful member of Colonial Baptist Church in Thomasville, and was the oldest living charter member. Don worked many years as a machinist at JC Coggins Machine Shop for over 40 years. He loved antique cars, especially his 1939 Ford Standard Coupe, which won numerous awards over the years at local car shows. He enjoyed fishing, but most of all spending time with his beloved family. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his two wives, Martha Maxine Millen Wilborne on November 3, 1983 and Edna Earle Robertson Wilborne on July 27, 2011; his siblings, Elsie Snead, Sylvia Thomas, Marvin Wilborne, Henry Wilborne, Jefferson Davis “JD” Wilborne, Ruby Ford, Harvey Wilborne, Raleigh Wilborne, Franklin Wilborne and James “Bobby” Wilborne.

Surviving are his two sons, Donald Wilborne, Jr. and wife Robin of Rogers, Arkansas, and Terry Lee Wilborne and wife Vivian of Thomasville; step-children, Rocky Everhart and wife Vickie, Randy Everhart and wife Dana, and Starr Waynick and husband Charlie; two  sisters, Mary Rowe and Jackie Cuneo; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Scott Moody and husband Stephen, Jessica Leigh Wilborne, Jennifer Gray Scott and husband Addison, Donald Bradford Wilborne, III and wife Jozi; four step-grandchildren, Ashley Sofsian and husband Scott, Allison Willis and husband Dave, Kelsey Jacobson and husband Matt, and Sydney Rumley. He also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Colonial Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Hollar officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at the church. The family will also receive friends following the graveside service at Don’s residence.
