Donald Marvin Roper

Mr. Donald Marvin Roper, 57, a resident of Ward Farm Road, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center.  He was born on September 16, 1964 in Guilford County, NC to Paul Buster Roper and Vera Alice Buck Roper, both of whom preceded him in death.

He was previously a fireman with the City of Thomasville and volunteered at the Horneytown Fire Department.  He worked for FedEx Freight for 27 years and was a member of Hughes Grove Baptist Church, where he was just elected as a deacon.  He loved fishing and was a practical jokester.

On January 30, 1988, he married Sherry Lynn Dunivant, who survives of the home; also surviving are his daughters, Samantha Watts and husband Nathaniel of Delco, NC and Faith Roper of Lexington; his son, Matthew Roper and wife Tetiana of Kernersville; grandchildren, Cadence Watts, Mabry Watts, Nika Roper, Colton Pullum, and Baylen Fritts; brother, Paul Roper and wife Janice of Thomasville; and sisters, Lois Shields and husband Kenneth of Pinnacle, Ellen Tolbert and husband Mike of Lexington, SC, and Hope Tinnes and husband Gary of Winston-Salem.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 31, 2022 from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville and a funeral service will follow the visitation on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. John Hill and Rev. Nathaniel Watts officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hughes Grove Baptist Church cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to Hughes Grove Baptist Church, 547 Hughes Grove Church Rd. Thomasville, NC 27360.  The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Rev. John Hill for being a wonderful pastor and friend.
