Mrs. Dorcas Roella Ward Workman, 96, of Thomasville, our precious mother went to be with her Lord Jesus on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at The Gray Brier Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on July 15, 1928 in Davidson County, NC to Henry Beecher Ward and Addie Miller Ward. She was a homemaker and the bookkeeper for the family business, Workman’s Furnace Service. She was a life-long and very active member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church, formerly Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, senior counselor for the UM Youth, served on numerous committees and sang in the church choir. She loved traveling which included 6 trips to Alaska and all of the continental US, loved going out to eat and was especially fond of spaghetti. She loved her family and church family very much, volunteered with the Red Cross Blood Drive and delivered Meals on Wheels. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Eulan Workman on January 10, 2000; her two brothers, Beecher Ward and Dolan Ward; and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Ann Halker Workman.
Surviving is her son, Charles Workman and wife Tammy of Thomasville; one grandson, Chad Ryan Workman and wife Kelly of Louisville, KY: one step-granddaughter, Fallon Blackburn and Ian of Archdale; great-granddaughter, Davis Workman of Louisville, KY; special cousins and numerous nieces and nephews, who she loved very much.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM at New Beginnings United Methodist Church, 609 Liberty Dr. Thomasville, NC with Rev. Jerry Webb and Rev. Allen Hale officiating. Inurnment will follow the service in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff at Gray Brier Nursing and Hospice of Randolph County for their loving care.
