Mrs. Doris Alma Rickard Hooker, 91, a resident of Thomasville, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Westchester Manor in High Point. Doris was born on August 28, 1934 in High Point to her parents, the late Florence Jones Rickard and Roy E. Rickard. Doris was a longtime member of Hasty Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and director of the Bible School. She also worked at Britt Haven Rehab Center in Thomasville as a dietician. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Hooker; her son, Jerry L. Hooker.
Surviving is her two children, Doris Rathbone and husband Scott, and Eddie Hooker, all of Thomasville; one sister, Ruby Gobel and husband Stanley; two grandchildren, Tyler Rathbone and wife Reba of Elon and Ryan Rathbone and wife Sarah of Thomasville; and three great-grandchildren, Emmy, Addy, and Sawyer.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the JC Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Daniel Pittman officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
